UK's Sainsbury's first retailer to sell ASC-certified pangasius products
Sainsbury's is the first supermarket to sell Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certified pangasius products in its stores according to The Grocer.
The UK-retailer launched two own-label lines of river cobbler to 150 stores that carry the ASC ecolabel. The Grocer said a third line of certified farmed fish will be released next week and the retailer plans to sell all three products in 400 stories by May 1.
Sainsbury's committment to ASC products mirrors the company's goal of carry only sustainably certified seafood products by 2020; the company is already a top retailer of MSC-certified fish.
