Ukraine – a potential market for Vietnam seafood

(vasep.com.vn) Ukraine is an emerging market with high potentiality in food consumption. Ukraine has strengths in heavy and defense industries.

Currently, the country imports mainly oil and gas, chemicals, seafood, vegetables, coffee, garments and textiles. Ukraine has paid attention to openness and global integration and joined the World Trade Organization. Vietnam and Ukraine has signed 20 agreements on trade and economic cooperation such shipping, air transport, double taxation relief. However, two ways trade turnover between the countries is still in low level.

Vietnam has not played an important role in goods import activities of the market even exports of some Vietnamese main products to Ukraine keeps stable growth.

Many local exporters in Vietnam only focus on large markets such as EU, the U.S or Japan thanks to their good trade terms and regulations. To export to Ukraine, Vietnamese enterprises face to language barrier, lack of information on consumer trends, law system and trade regulations.

Ukrainian partners welcome and expect to improve goods import from Vietnam, especially machines, seafood, tea, coffee, rice or shoes, Mr Yevhen Prypik at Ukrainian Embassy in Vietnam shared.
