South Korea – a stable and potential market of Vietnam seafood
(vasep.com.vn) In 2012, seafood exports to South Korea reached US$509 million, up 6.5 percent from 2011. The market took the proportion of 8.3 percent out of Vietnam’s total seafood exports.
This is a stable and potential importer of Vietnam seafood, especially for cephalopod, fish paste and surimi, shrimp and tuna. The market ranked the fifth in importing shrimp from Vietnam, taking the proportion of 8 percent. However, the late 2012 onwards, the market imposed Ethoxyquin inspection on shrimp originated from Vietnam. As a result, shrimp exports to the market in 2013 is expected to face a lot of hardship.
