Russian fishermen harvested 717,400 tonnes of fish and other seafood since the start of 2013, up 0.5% compared to the same period of 2012, the Federal Fisheries Agency Rosrybolovstvo reported.
In the Far Eastern basin the catch dropped by 7,300 tonnes to 518,600 tonnes. The Pollock catch dropped to 393,900 tonnes from 411,000 tonnes in the same period of 2012.
In the Northern basin the catch was 113,800 tonnes, 7,900 tonnes less than last year. Cod fishing increased by 6,300 tonnes to 67,800 tonnes.
In the Baltic Sea the volume of fish rose to 7,300 tonnes from 7,200 in the same period last year, in the Azov-Black Sea basin the catch rose to 9,000 tonnes (3,800 tonnes more) and in the Caspian Sea to 500 tonnes (200 tonnes more).
In foreign country zones, Russian fishermen caught 61,100 tonnes of fish (11,900 tonnes more year-on-year). In Convention areas and open ocean water Russia caught 7,100 tonnes (2,600 tonnes more).
