Thanks to the Government’s subsidy to reduce impact of hiking fuel price under the Decision No289-TTg of the Prime Minister, 6,780 fishing vessels in Phu Yen province can maintain their operation. As a result, the province’s fish landing reached 23,870MT in the first six months this year, up 6.2 percent year on year, of which tuna catch was 4,200MT, increased by 16 percent.
The aquaculture industry also experienced strong growth rate with a production in the first half this year of 1,560MT, represented a rise of 17.5 percent against the same period last year. Phu Yen’s seafood exports in the same period reached US$9.4 million, a year-on-year increase of 62.1 percent. (VietFishNews)
