Ontario-based Seacore Seafood Inc. has announced that it has launched one of the first Aquaculture Stewardship Council-certified seafood products for retail distribution. The company will sell ASC-certified frozen Basa Fillets unders its OceanPrime brand.
Seacore Seafood is taking the necessary steps to ensure it does its part in meeting the needs of the present without jeopardizing the future generations of their own needs. As a result of the ever growing public demand on sustainability, Seacore Seafood has created the OceanPrime® Sustainable Seafood Program - The eco-friendly Seafood.
The Basa Fillets--also known as panagasius--will come in a 8x2.5 LB Retail Pack.
"Seacore is proud to be one of the first companies in the world to offer an ASC Certified Basa Fillet," the company said. "It is the same excellent quality you expect from OceanPrime and will be a perfect compliment to your frozen seafood offering."

Seacore Seafood recognizes its role in helping ensure a sustainable future for the seafood we buy and sell, and the overall health of our oceans. As one of the largest seafood distributors in Canada, we aim to be a model of sustainability in the Canadian seafood marketplace and to emerge as a proactive leader that is well positioned to supply sustainable seafood products to our customers.
Seacore Seafood is not only a distributor and a custom processor but we are a Direct Importer as well. What this means is that we purchase all or a very large portion of our products directly from the source. This allows us to maintain control over all aspects of the product - from quality to food safety to pricing to packaging and so on. Seacore prides itself in only purchasing seafood products from the most reputable suppliers from all over the world. All products imported by Seacore are regulated by the CFIA and are heavily inspected to meet the strict Canadian guidelines that all Canadians have come accustomed to.
