Honduras to develop saltwater tilapia farming operations for export
Honduras' National Aquaculture Association (Andah) has said the country has found a way to grow tilapia in salt water.
According to a study by Andah, biologists have found a way to successfully grow the species in a salt water environment. Now Honduran officials want to develop saltwater tilapia farming for export in the coming months.
The shrimp and fish industry in southern Honduras seeks to expand into the tilapia, for which ready fry growing in salt water. However, before operations can begin its saltwater tilapia operations the Gulf of Fonseca must be repopulated.
