(vasep.com.vn) At mid November 2013, VASEP held a meeting to launch its Tuna Council with the participation of 22 tuna processors and exporters, making up 90 percent of the country’s total tuna export turnover.
Prior to the meeting, VASEP signed a decision to establish VASEP Tuna Council on Oct 23rd 2013.
The council is under VASEP Marine Product Committee (VMPC). The council aims to promote the cooperation among its members in order to raise the value and quality of Vietnam tuna products. Besides, VASEP Tuna Council helps its members share mutual benefit, ensure the supply of raw material, find importing markets, overcome trade barriers and obey legal regulations.
At the meeting, participants adopted operation mechanism and elected management board of the council.
Up to now, VASEP has established 3 committees including VASEP Shrimp Association (VSA), VASEP Freshwater Fish Committee (VFFA), VASEP Marine Product Committee (VMPC) and 3 councils: Domestic Product Club (DPC), VASEP Crab Council and VASEP Tuna Council.
