(vasep.com.vn) Technical assistance and technology from Japan along financial support from the province in turnkey demo project is expected to flourish tuna capture in Binh Dinh but right now, it is miles away to get the target.
Fishermen and technical compliance
Two fishing trips were carried out with 5 vessels. In the first trip, in July, 37 tunas were yielded, among which, 10 were qualified for auction in Japan with average price of VND 249,000 / kg. The second trip (from 12th August to 4thSeptember) saw 57 tunas yielded.
The number of qualified fish for export processing is the main problem of the tuna industry. Some had the auction price at over VND 437,000 while some were just VND 52,000 / kg. The weather is one factor but the main reason is that most of fishermen did not strictly follow the guided process.
