Crab exports to EU saw positive growth

(vasep.com.vn) Shipment of crab & swimming crab and other custacean from Vietnam has seen an upbeat growth since the start of 2013 with sales of US$8.3 million (up 18.1 percent).

EU was the second largest importer of Vietnam crab after the U.S., accounting for 30 percent of total crab exports nationwide last year although crab exports to EU was 10.4 percent less than that of 2011. In which Vietnam crab exports to four leading single markets in the block (France, the U.K, the Netherlands and Belgium) slashed 8.7 percent – 14.6 percent.

Since the first month of 2013, crab exports to EU reported the growth of nearly 200 percent on par with the same period of 2012. Canned pasteurized crab was the main product exported to EU with the proportion of 88.5 percent of total exports to the market in 2012.
