Concern is rising against Mexico on Pacific bluefin tuna catch limit
Japan’s Fisheries Agency official expressed concern against Mexico for the result of its catch of Pacific bluefin tuna this year. Mexico’s catch limit of Pacific bluefin tuna is set to 10,000 tons covering for two years, 2012 and 2013.
Mexico consumed 6,600 tons this year and only 3,400 tons are left for next year. Japan requested Mexico to manage its tuna fisheries and observe the obligation required by Inter- American Tropical Tuna Commission.
