Binh Dinh: Ocean tuna output increased by 4%

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the Sub - Department of Fisheries (under DARD), in the first 6 months of 2019, fishermen in Binh Dinh province captured roughly 7,205 MT of tuna, up 4% over the same period in 2018. According to some middlemen, tuna prices are currently at VND 105,000/kg, down VND 12,000 from the previous month and VND 22,000/kg compared to the beginning of the year.

The tuna fishing vessel of Hoai Nhon fishermen landed to Quy Nhon fishing port to sell tuna products.

There are 2,134 tuna fishing vessels in the whole province, of which 1,351 longline and handline vessels, the rest are purse seine and gill nets vessels. The fishing grounds are mainly in the Central sea area, between the East Sea, Spratly and Paracel islands. The tuna production of Binh Dinh averages between 52,000 and 55,000 MT /year, of which ocean tuna is 9,000 - 10,000 tons/year, skipjack is from 43,000 to 45,000 tons /year.
