(vasep.com.vn) In 2012, Vinafish Import Export Corporation (Vinafish Corp) targets to gain US$15 million from pangasius sales abroad. In the first three quarters of the year, the company totaled nearly US$10 million of revenue; so it needs to speed up exporting panga in the last three months of the year and earn further US$5 million to reach the yearly target.
Despite economic difficulties in foreign markets, Vinafish Corp still predicts positive growth in pangasius export in the last quarter. Fish export revenue between October and December 2012 is expected to reach the highest level of the year because foreign importers are intensifying fish purchase to serve consumption demand in the year-end holidays and festivals.
An Giang-based firm exported pangasius products to the EU and Asia, particularly ASEAN countries. Export to the EU has been down by 50 percent from the same period of 2011 due to economic downturn. In which, the deepest fall was seen in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain. Yugoslavia remained fish import like that of last year.
Vinafish Corp owned farming area of 10 hectares, producing 3,000 MT of raw fish per crop, meeting 20 percent of its needs for processing.
