(vasep.com.vn) Since 18th May 2012, Japan started to test 30 percent of shrimp consignments from Vietnam for detecting Ethoxyquin. The new rule will negatively affect export operation of Vietnam Clean Seafood Corporation (Vina Cleanfood) to this market. In 2011, Japan accounted for 55 percent of the company’s earnings from exports, the result dropped to 30 percent this year.
In this challenging context, Vina Cleanfood is boosting shipment to the EU. So far, export to this region represents 40 percent in its export structure. Vina Cleanfood was granted GlobalGAP certificate for its shrimp farming area.
In 2012, Vina Cleanfood expects to boost whiteleg shrimp products to 90 percent in its export structure. Black shrimp tiger occupies only 10 percent. Currently, demand for whiteleg shrimp in the global market remains at high level.
In July 2012, Soc Trang-based firm plans to intensify shrimp export to the U.S. with expected revenue of US$5 – 10 million. To the end of 2012, the company will reach ASC certificate for its shrimp farming. The accreditation will offer a great chance for Vina Cleanfood to develop business in the next future.
Besides, the EU and the U.S., Vina Cleanfood also ship more products to other potential markets like South Korea and Singapore.
