(vasep.com.vn) In the first nine months of 2012, Trong Nhan Seafood Co., Ltd exported 1,782 MT of shrimp to the EU, South Korea, Australia, Japan to earn US$13.255 million, representing a rise from 1,694 MT and US$10.159 million of the same period of 2011.
Shrimp export, especially HOSO shrimp to the EU was down 20 percent compared to that in the same period of 2011. This was due to economic difficulties in the region. In the past years, HOSO shrimp products were strongly consumed in France, Belgium and Italy. However, this year, Italy and Spain purchased shrimp with low volume, so Trong Nhan Seafood sold its products mostly to Germany, France and the Netherlands.
High demand for Vietnam shrimp was also seen in Japanese markets. However, Japan food safe authorities are strengthening test of all shrimp products from Vietnam for Ethoxyquin residues. As the result, importers only purchased shrimp products processed from extensive farming shrimp. The extensive shrimp is considered to be safer than industrial one.
Buyers from South Korea still remained import of Trong Nhan Seafood’s shrimp, mostly counts of under 50/60 and some value-added shrimp products. This year, the company sets to keep export to South Korea, Australia and Japan.
It has invested VND3 billion in equipping individually quick frozen (IQF) system with capacity of 750 kilogram per hour serving for shrimp production activity of the company.
