500ha of saltwater aquaculture (mainly farming clam) brought 3,312MT of seafood, equivalent to 82.8 percent of the yearly plan, while 350 farming cages in Nghi Son and Bang river (Hai Binh, Tinh Gia) yield 46MT of marine fish, equivalent to 83.6 percent of the yearly plan.
The 10,030ha of freshwater fish farming brought an output of 15,181MT. And 4,100ha of brackish water aquaculture yield 1,400MT of black tiger shrimp, 700MT of whiteleg shrimp, and 45MT of crab.
According to the Thanh Hoa provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development,the whiteleg shrimp output this year was the highest ever so far, with 10MTper ha on average. Though the area for whiteleg shrimp farming is the same with last year, output might reach 800MT, 2.5 folds against the previous year. (VietFishNews)
