Tashun: lack of stingray for processing

(vasep.com.vn) So far, seafood companies in Khanh Hoa are still struggling with crucial competition of Chinese purchasers. Therefore, Tashun Limited Company (Tashun Corp) failed to get enough raw material for processing to complete its contracts.

Currently, Central Coast’s waters are not in marine fish harvest, leading to low capture volume. Therefore, marine fish processors cannot ensure their needs of raw fish for processing as they have to compete with Chinese traders.

In the first six months of 2012, Tashun exported 75 MT of stingray, 35 MT of smoked tuna and nearly 2 MT of fishmeal to Japan. Moreover, it also exported marinated fish products to South Korea.

In 2011, Tashun Corp’s skipjack tuna was welcomed by Japanese consumers. However, since early 2012, the company has to stop export of this item due to unstable export prices.

Though Tashun reported higher export revenue than the same period of last year, the firm did not reach its set target because of hike raw material prices.
