Tan Phong Phu Seafood Co., Ltd plans to develop organic shrimp
(VASEPNews) In the first seven months of 2012, Tan Phong Phu Seafood Co., Ltd got a 20 percent growth in its seafood sales abroad. In which, black tiger shrimp accounted for 90 percent of the company’s total shrimp export. Despite of rise in export, Tan Phong Phu’s year-to-date earnings were not as high as expected due to rising input costs as well as hike of domestic raw shrimp price for processing.
The company said that some markets like the EU, Australia showed slower sales compared to the same period of 2011. Furthermore, Tan Phong Phu’s partners met financial troubles as the result of economic downturn.
In 2013, Tan Phong Phu plans to develop organic shrimp farming area and other industrial shrimp farm of 300 hectares in compliance with GlobalGAP standards in Bac Lieu province. The company also aims to change its export item structure by increasing proportion of whiteleg shrimp.
