Surge in Ca Mau’s exports through February
(vasep.com.vn) In the first two months of 2014, Ca Mau, a southernmost province of Vietnam, fetched US$185.46 million from its exports, equal to 15.56 percent of its plan, and up 97.53 percent year on year, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.
The revenue was mainly contributed by seafood products with US$173.53 million, completing 16.07 percent of its plan and up 89.01 percent year on year. It was followed by farm produce with US$1.38 million, equal to 13.8 percent of its plan and up 102.94 percent year on year.
Aquatic products are still among key exports shipped to the province’s main importers such as the U.S., Japan and EU that demand quality standards and food hygiene and safety.
Thus, the province is strengthening the control of the quality of input materials to facilitate aquatic exports.
The province is taking various measures to bring its export turnover to US$1.1 billion this year.
