By June 20, 2010, 15,000 shrimp farming households here have stocked shrimp in an area of 16,973 ha, fulfilling 95.8 percent of the yearly plan. Four communes namely Hoa Tu 1, Hoa Tu 2, Ngoc Dong, Ngoc To have the largest shrim farming areas.
This year, shrimp grows well because farmers comply with technical farming process and use quality and safe broodstock. Market-sized shrimp have been harvested in some places. Thanks to high selling price, farmers earned high profit.
Similar to other communes in the same district, farmers in Gia Hao commune stocked shrimp in an area of 1,953ha. With 423ha has been harvested, it is reported that more than 80 percent of farmers earn dozen millions to hundreds millions VND in profits. Some even can earn up to 400-500 million VND in profit. Not many farmers suffered losses, which varied within some millions VND only. The not-yet-harvested area is expected to bring a bumper harvest of shrimp. (VietFishNews)
