(vasep.com.vn) On 14-15 October 2014 in Bangkok Thailand, the 3rd Steering Committee Meeting of Shrimp Standard of ASEAN region was held with the participations of key stakeholders.
The main targets of the meeting include:
1. Finalize Steering Committee decision on Standard
2. Finalize an action plan for the Shrimp Standard for ASEAN beyond March 2015
3. Finalize field testing plan and verification options to implement the standard
4. Review the public comment feedback and integrate into the current draft
5. Discuss how to consider intermediaries and/or brokers in the supply chain under the standard
6. Finalize the government outreach action plan
ASEAN shrimp producers take a major contribution in global farmed shrimp production with annual output of 300,000 – 600,000 MT for each country. A standard for the regional shrimp is expected to bring benefits to exporters.
In March 2015, the committee plans to finalize the standard and process conclusion.
