(vasep.com.vn) In the early days of 2021, prices of black tiger shrimp and whiteleg shrimp surged. According to VASEP, shrimp prices are likely to continue to roar in 2021 despite the Covid-19 epidemic continuing.
According to middlemen, the price of raw shrimp is high, but farmers in the provinces of Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Soc Trang have almost run out of shrimp. In Ca Mau, the current price of raw black tiger shrimp has increased by more than 20% compared to December 2020.
At local farms in Ben Tre, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu…by January 21st 2021, prices of whiteleg shrimp of size 20s is 207,000 VND/kg; size 30s priced at 167,000 VND/kg; size 40s priced at 163,000 VND/kg; size 50s at 143,000 VND/kg.
Representatives of some businesses said that many businesses want to enhance the annual growth rate, so they boost exports in the past time. The "good results" in exports also makes the inventory plummeted but cannot compensate in time due to the near-ending farming season.
