Shrimp from Vietnam: disease-free and safe
(vasep.com.vn) Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) set the goals in 2015 for shrimp products. These goals include decreasing disease affected area by 50% while supplying products that are disease-free and safe with no antibiotic residues.
The year 2014 witnessed a boom in shrimp industry. Brackish water shrimp farming area reached 685,000 hectares, up 4.4% from 2013. Output was estimated at 660,000 MT, up 20% from 2013. The increase mainly caused by a rise in whiteleg shrimp rearing. Harvest of this species climbed by over 100,000 MT, equivalent to a 42.9% growth from 2013.
