(vasep.com.vn) Through August 2103, Qui Nhon Frozen Seafoods Joint Stock Company (Seaprodex Factory No16) earned US$5 million of whiteleg shrimp exports.
The EU remained the key market for Seaprodex Factory No16’s shrimp products. Italy, Denmark and the U.K. were the leading importers.
Qui Nhon-based firm also sold whiteleg shrimp products to South Korea, the Philippines and some other markets.
The company focused on the control of shrimp quality by testing Ethoxyquin residues on raw shrimp and finished products before export to South Korea. As a result, Seaprodex Factory No16 has remained export volume to this destination so far, though Korean regulations on Ethoxyquin are stricter.
The current concern of Seaprodex Factory No16 is that it has to compete with traders purchasing a large volume of raw shrimp to send to China. The trend affects the company’s production and trading activities.
In the context of global economic crisis, Seaprodex Factory No16 has still reported good business results, keeping jobs for 300 local workers.
