Seaprodex F16 up 20 percent in shrimp sales abroad

(vasep.com.vn) In the first eight months of 2012, Quy Nhon Frozen Seafoods Joint Stock Company (Seaprodex F16) shipped more shrimp products to new foreign markets, boosting its overall export volume and value by 20 percent to 800 MT and US$5 million compared to the same time of last year.

In the period, Seaprodex F16’s shrimp trade with the EU markets remained stable, though the region has still been under pressures of economic downturn. In contrast, sales to other traditional market like South Korea, the Philippines, and New Zealand showed slide of 5 percent from the compatible time of last year. The drop is due to declining demand for shrimp in consuming markets, as well as cheaper prices of shrimp supplies from Thailand, India, Indonesia, according to Banh Quang Ha, the company’s Director.

In 2011, Binh Dinh-based firm started running a shrimp processing workshop with production capacity of 4 MT per day in order to mostly provide to domestic markets. The new plant helped to increase Seaprodex F16’s whole production to 15 MT per day.
