Seaprodex Danang: 75 percent of shrimp exported to Japan
(vasep.com.vn) 2012 has been a tough year for seafood business community in Vietnam. However, Da Nang Sea Products Import-Export Corporation (Seaprodex Danang) still obtained good result in sales abroad. Between January and October this year, the company has exported 3,000 MT of seafood products to earn back US$21.77 million, equal to those in the compatible time in 2011.
Japan represented a proportion of 75 percent in Seaprodex Danang’s shrimp importing market structure. The company said it still considered Asian markets, particularly Japan, as main destinations for shrimp products because the U.S. was on low recovery and the EU stayed under financial difficulties.
This year, short supply of raw material was seen not only in shrimp processing sector but also in other marine fish ones. To ease pressures of raw material supply, Da Nang-based firm imported raw material from other countries to keep processing and improve its competitiveness.
In early October, the firm opened its new headquarter and a cold store chain in Son Tra district, Da Nang province. The cold store chain was build in 2011 with production capacity of 1,500 MT of finished products. It helps Seaprodex Danang to boost production and reach its annual export target.
