Ninh Thuan succeeded in breeding vannamei broodstock
(vasep.com.vn) Son Hai Experimental Research Centre for disease free vannamei broodstock breeding (Phuoc Dinh commune, Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan province) has succeeded in breeding over 20 thousand of shrimp broodstock.
Since 2010, the Centre founded by Research Institute of Aquaculture No.1 (RIA1) and Moana Technologies company in Hawaii (the U.S.) has researched experimentally on breeding disease free vannamei broodstocks and received 5 batches of healthy post larvaes (PLs) from Moana company in Hawaii to rear shrimp broodstocks within 14 months.
The Centre has reared about 20 thousand of shrimp broodstocks in which over 2,500 shrimp broodstocks are of the reproductive age. In Vietnam, the demand of shrimp seed are increasing to about 400,000 broodstocks per year. In the future, the Centre and Moana Technologies company plan to produce 150,000 healthy broodstocks, meeting 40 percent of vannamei broodstock demand in Vietnam.
