On August 14, 2009 Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai broke the ground for the construction of a new plant capable of processing 20,000MT of shrimp a year in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang.
The Minh Phu-Hau Giang Plant, its name, one of the three biggest shrimp processing facilities in the world, is expected to employ 10,000 local workers and can make an annual turnover of US$180 million.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy PM said the Government attached importance to the construction of large-scale and labour-intensive processing factories in the Mekong Delta like Minh Phu.
Minh Phu Seafood Corp director said the Corp is striving to be the country’s biggest shrimp producer and processor in years to come.
