(vasep.com.vn) In the first two quarters of 2012, Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (Godaco) sent abroad nearly 7,500 MT of finished products and earned total amount of US$20 million, up 7 percent in volume and 8 percent in value compared to the same period last year. Pangasius was the main export item with 60 percent proportion; the rest was clam and other seafood products.
This year, Godaco met many obstacles in its pangasius shipment to the EU market. To compensate losses from the EU sales, in early 2012, Godaco shifted fish shipments to some markets in South America, Middle East and Asia and got good results.
Currently, Godaco owns 120-hectare fish farming area which provides enough raw fish for its processing plant with capacity of 80 MT per day.
In 2012, Godaco saw higher supply of clam in Mekong Delta than that of 2011. It also found place for its clam products in the global market with firm export prices. Export of clam to the EU has got great results since early 2012.
Godaco expects to export pangasius to the U.S. in late 2012 in purpose to diversify market structure.
