Fish was farmed on the area of 42,000 hectares in Soc Trang
(vasep.com.vn) In Soc Trang province, until July 10th 2013, fish was farmed on the area of 42,184 hectares, down 3.8 percent from that of the same period of 2012.
In which 28,247 hectares were used to rear brackishwater shrimp (whiteleg shrimp was farmed on 8,392 hectares) and 13,937 hectares were used to farm freshwater fish (including 71 hectares for farming giant freshwater prawn). For the year to July 17th, 3,464 hectares of shrimp were harvested, in which whiteleg shrimp was farm on the area of 2,132 hectares.
