Fimex VN to overcome short of raw material

(vasep.com.vn) In June 2011 SaoTa

Up to the end of May 2011, Fimex VN was in the top four shrimp exporters in Vietnam. The company has been awarded the price of “2010 prestige export enterprise” at Vietfish exhibition 2011 held in Ho Chi Minh city.

According to Fimex VN, the company is facing difficulties such as shortage of raw shrimp in Mekong Delta, high shrimp price, and other increasing input costs - including fuel cost, worker salary, and feed. In addition, the exchange rate between VND and USD put many exporters into troubles. Fimex VN tries to purchase raw shrimp for processing and export since the beginning of shrimp harvest.

In first six months of this year, Fimex VN’s exports reached US$32.5 million, increasing 75 percent over the same period last year.

Fimex VN reported that shrimp farmers in Soc Trang – a province in Mekong Delta – are restocking in ponds which suffered disease. Therefore, shrimp farming areas are expected to recover.

Currently, in respond to appeal of mobilizing financial supports for fishermen operating in East Sea, Fimex VN contributed VND100 million to the program.
