Fimex VN: Sales rose by 65 percent

Sao Ta Foods Joint Stock Company

Shrimp harvest season hasn’t been in full swing in the Mekong delta at this time of the year, and the scarcity of raw material was keeping Fimex VN face many difficulties. However, the company actively purchased high-quality and safe raw shrimps and used its stock volume to reach a rise of 25 percent in processed shrimp volume. The turnover and profit surged 65 percent and 66 percent, respectively.

In February, 2011, Fimex VN had a meeting with Japanese partners in Japan where they negotiated and reached a deal on trading for this year. At the end of March, the company participated in International Boston Seafood Show in the US, where it conducted market research and had discussion with American partners to seek an effective trading strategy in the market.

According to Services of Agriculture and Rural Development of some provinces in Mekong Delta, though the shrimp harvesting just started, in certain areas, diseases caused shrimp lost with rate of 90 – 100 percent. The situation made local shrimp processors worry lack of raw materials.

However, according to Fimex VN, it was not so serious because farmers would rapidly release shrimp juveniles into ponds, therefore, the harvest time would be later than expected.
