Fimex VN got US$51 million of shrimp export
(vasep.com.vn) In the first three quarters of 2012, SaoTa Foods Joint Stock Company (Fimex VN) processed and sold 4,692 MT of shrimp products, bringing total revenue of US$51 million. The figures were equal to 91.6 percent in volume and 83.6 percent in value compared to those of the corresponding time in 2011.
In September alone, the company produced 737 MT of frozen shrimp of all products in which 707 MT has been exported for US$6.8 million.
Fimex VN said that, this year, domestic shrimp farms saw a decrease in raw shrimp output for processing due to difficulties in shrimp farming activities. In contrast, farmed shrimp production in many global and regional shrimp producers increased thanks to bumper harvests, pushing down the shrimp price in the global market. As the result, Fimex VN reported a low turnover due to falling export price.
In the first eight months of 2012, Fimex VN reported US$42.780 million of export earnings and ranked in the top 10 Vietnam seafood exporters.
