(vasep.com.vn) Saota Foods Joint Stock Company (Fimex VN) said it processed 737 MT of frozen shrimp of all products and varieties. In which, 707 MT was sent abroad with worth of US$6.8 million.
This year, shrimp cultivation got a poor crop due to disease, causing short supply of raw material for processing to export. Meanwhile, the world market saw sharp drop in shrimp prices as other shrimp producing countries got full harvest and then offered lower quotations than those of Vietnam shrimp.
In the first nine months of 2012, Fimex VN exported 4.692 MT of all kinds of frozen shrimp to earn US$51 million. This was down 16.4 percent over the same time last year, mainly because of declining shrimp price. Frozen shrimp items represented 91.6 percent of the company’s all earnings from export.
From July to Semptember 2012, Fimex VN produced 2,507 MT of finished products of which 1,992 MT was exported for US$18.44 million of revenue and VND2.3 billion of profit.
