Down in disease in shrimp farming
(vasep.com.vn) Through October 2013, shrimp farmers in Vietnam harvested over 396.9 thousand MT, up 38 percent year-on-year on the stocking area of 650 hectares, completing the yearly plan.
During this time, disease affected farming area of the country downed 54 percent year-on-year.
Next year, the area and production of aquaculture are planned to increase by 5 percent over 2013. In which whiteleg shrimp output may rise 20-30 percent year-on-year to hit 230 thousand MT on the area of 60 thousand hectares, black tiger shrimp output keeps stable. Pangasius production may reduce by 200 thousand MT to 1 million MT on the area of 6,000 hectares.
