(VASEPNews) Currently, many farmers in Dong Thap province (in the southern of Vietnam) are using bio-products in farming giant freshwater prawn and earning the profit of over VND100 million per hectare.
Giant freshwater prawn farming model using bio – product showed initial efficiency. Nearly 75 percent of households farming under this model earn stable profit. This shrimp farming model is expanding in many localities. Using bio-product helps for improving water environment, ensuring shrimp growth and increasing shrimp productivity and profit. Ms. Thu Dieu in Hung Thanh commune, Thap Muoi district said that she applied model of shrimp farming using bio-products in her 3 hectare area with the density of 11-12 pieces/square meter.
In 2011 shrimp season, she made huge profit of over VND340 million ($US 16,275) from this model while she only earned VND140 million ($US 6,701) from farming under the old method.
Under the model, shrimp is free from disease, attains high growth rate, and brings high productivity and huge profit for farmers. Shrimp does not suffer from shock due to water environment changes.
