Developing environment-friendly shrimp farming method in Binh Dinh province

Two sides agreed to sign a memorandum

On 1st November 2007, Director of Fisheries Service of Binh Dinh province, Mrs Tran Thi Thu Ha had a meeting with an enterprise delegation led by Mr. Hisanori Endoh, Director of Revearth International Ltd., which based on Tokyo, Japan and Mr. Hiromi Takeuchi - a adviser of Vietnam-Japan Friendly Association.

After discussing and having survey on shrimp farming areas in the province, two sides agreed to sign a memorandum on developing environment-friendly shrimp farming method. The memorandum takes effect until November 2008.

According to the memorandum, Binh Dinh Fisheries Service is responsible for choosing appropriate sites, skillful technicians who will operate equipments used in environment -friendly shrimp farming system. Revearth International Ltd. will supply biological aeration machine (BIOFAN). BIOFAN only uses wind power and solar energy. The company will support the province to set up some pilot models in order to expand the methods of sustainable aquaculture to produce clean products.

It is expected that the method will open new prospects for developing shrimp farming industry of the South coastal province with the orientation of producing clean products, diminishing environmental pollution, and developing sustainable fishery.
