D.D.Co: Shifting to whiteleg shrimp and other seafoods

Director of D.D.Co, Mr. Tran Tu Liem said since early 2009 the company has faced difficulties in buying raw tuna for export processing. Thus, it had to shift to processing whiteleg shrimp in order to diversify products and markets.

In the first eight months this year, D.D.Co’s seafood export value reached US$4 million, equivalent to 40 percent of its yearly plan. Liem said fulfilling 80 percent of its yearly plan for D.D.Co is a challenge in such a difficult year.

In early August 2009, D.D.Co invested in a whiteleg shrimp processing plant in the Central of Viet Nam with the capacity of 4 containers of finished products a month, which are mainly shipped to South Korea and Egypt.

Currently, D.D.Co is striving to buy and process hairtail and leather fish to export to South Korea. Thanks to that, the company’s trading activities have been recovered.Liem expected his company will export more new seafood products to EU in October this year.
