Cases: Operating at 60 percent of designed capacity

According to the statistics of Vietnam Customs, in the first ten months of 2009, Cases exported 5,256MT of seafood, valued at more than US$16.1 million, including 1,440MT of shrimp, worth nearly US$9.6 million. Director Huynh Thanh Tan revealed that Cases, as well as other shrimp processors in the Mekong Delta, are in a severe shortage of materials in the context of decreasing shrimp farming area, lower output of farmed shrimp, and marked drop in wild-caught shrimp production due to bad weather.Currently, Cases is running at 60 percent of its designed capacity because of low volume of shrimp purchased.
