(vasep.com.vn) After a record of more than US$1 billion of seafood exports in 2013, Ca Mau fishery industry continues to see positive signs in its sales abroad in early 2014.
In January 2014, seafood exports reached US$77 million, up 51 percent month over month. This means that importing markets for Vietnamese seafood products are stable and on the rise, especially in case of shrimp. Can Tho produced 10,600 MT of shrimp, a month-over-month rise of 10 percent; 9,500 MT of which were from aquaculture activities.
Since the last months of 2013, shrimp production has been increasing thanks to the effective control of diseases and larger areas for industrial shrimp farming. This largely contributed to a higher value of provincial seafood sales abroad.
