Ca Mau: Solar energy used in intensive shrimp farming

The solar energy technology, which is developed by Solar Air LLC Viet Nam, has been applied at a trial scale in intensive shrimp farming in Ca Mau province. The solar energy is absorbed by panels before being stored in batteries, then is used to operate the aeration system. The DO volume is then pumped into the pond bottom through pipes. The fully charged batteries can be used to operate aeration system for seven days.

It is reported that application of solar-energy technology in combination with microorganism feed in intensive shrimp farming in Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province help improve water quality, shrimp grows rapidly with better FCR.

This technology is also applied on experimental scale in Bac Lieu province with promising results. This proved cost-efficient while ensuring growth rate of farmed shrimp. (VietFishNews)
