Ca Mau listed in top 5 export surplus provinces thanks to shrimp
(vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs, in the first 10 months of 2014, exports of Ca Mau reached US$ 1.18 billion, with trade surplus of US$ 1.05 billion. Seafood exports accounted for 97% of the total exports of the province.
Total shrimp production, accounted for over 33% of the total aquaculture production, was 139,305 MT, up 8% year on year. Yield for black tiger shrimp was 5-6 MT/ hectare and for whiteleg shrimp was 7-10 MT/ hectare.
According to Pham Thanh Tuoi, Chairman of the province, in the first 10 months of 2014, provincial exports increased by 34% over the same period. It is expected that exports of this province will finish the year with about US$ 1.3 billion in export revenue.
