Biofloc helps farmers control EMS in 2014
(vasep.com.vn) In 2013, shrimp farming area hit by EMS has reduced remarkably from the previous year thanks to biofloc technology applied by farmers in some central and Mekong Delta provinces.
With Biofloc technology, shrimp farming ponds will be accumulated some microorganism and water will not be changed in farming process. Under the technology, shrimp is co-cultivated with tilapia in a farming pond.
The technology is expected to help Vietnam’s 2014 farming crop avoid impact from EMS.
In the coming time, Directorate of Fisheries will survey farming areas and build shrimp farming technology under biofloc before popularizing to farmers.
