Binh Thuan sub-Department of Fisheries enhanced the effective quarantine, especially for seed shrimp. Thus, most of seed prior to bringing out of farms were quarantined at the establishments and granted the quarantine certificate as prescribed. Besides, the monitoring of inputs, imported broodstock was closely managed and conducted in accordance with the process. All consignments of imported broodstock were checked the outside and origin at the border as well as continuously controlled shrimp farms in order to promptly handle the outbreak of epidemics. The sub-Department regularly monitored seafood veterinary hygiene conditions in the farming process at the establishments.
Currently Binh Thuan has 158 seed production establishments in all varieties, including over 600 farms. The seed hatcheries remained the stability of production, many hatcheries also expanded their scale. Commercial shrimp farming in Binh Thuan was developed in the large area in which, whiteleg shrimp farming dominated with nearly 700 ha. Total production of commercial shrimp in 2010 reached over 11 thousand MT, by 105 percent of the year plan.
