Baseafood’s export revenue up 20 percent from yearly plan
(vasep.com.vn) So far this year, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Seafood Processing and Im-Ex Joint Stock Company (Baseafood) has shipped 7,500 MT of seafood products abroad to generate total revenue of US$28.5 million, up by 20 percent from its set plan in 2012, said Tran Van Dung, General Director of Baseafood.
Ba Ria – Vung Tau-based firm gained VND18.5 billion of profit, up 15 percent from target in the current year and 13 percent compared to 2011.
This year, Baseafood remained the same export volume, but it gained more revenue than that of the previous year. The company has focused on improving production chain to provide more value-added products like cut octopus, boiled and breaded octopus, seafood mix to send to Japan and the EU markets.
Many of Baseafood’s export items are now sold at US$8-9 per kilogram, much higher than US$3-4 per kilogram during the previous time.
Baseafood has signed contracts with foreign importers to supply products until March 2013. It will ship 45 percent of products to Japan, 25 percent to South Korea, 20 percent to the EU, 10 percent to North American and other markets.
