ABC news again delays airing of negative shrimp story
(IntraFish) A news report on the safety of US shrimp imports originally scheduled to air Wednesday night on ABC news channels in the United States that but cut from the show and rescheduled for Thursday, has once again been rescheduled, Gavin Gibbons of the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) told IntraFish on Friday. Gibbons said he does not know when the show has been rescheduled to air.
The US television network is expected to air a story critical of imported shrimp. Reporter Jim Avila, who NFI calls "the driver behind the 'pink slime' stories," and his team collected shrimp samples from grocery stores in New York, the District of Columbia, California and Georgia and found antibiotics in a number of the samples.
According to the shows's producer Nitrofuranzonewere found in various concentrations." The producer did not reveal which stores sold the shrimp or which brands were involved.
