Vietnam’s capture output in 2016 estimated to rise by 2.8%

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Vietnam), in 2016, despite difficulties, Vietnam’s capture volume still achieves positive results.

Lower fuel prices and the development in fishing logistics services facilitated fishing activities, therefore, the yields were relatively stable.

Total capture out in 2016 estimated at 3,121 thousand MT, a 2.8 percent climb from last year. Of that, marine catch estimated to hot 2,928 thousand MT, up 3.1%; inland catch estimated at 193 thousand MT, down 1% year on year.

According to local reports, tuna output of three key provinces in the Central Vietnam in 2016 amounted to 17,652 MT. Of that, the output in Binh Dinh province reached 9,368 MT, up 5%; that in Khanh Hoa province was 4,072 MT, down 12%; and that in Phu Yen province estimated at 4,212 MT, up 1% year on year. Tuna prices ranged from VND95,000 to 115,000 per kg.
