Ho Chi Minh City: Fishery production total 57,000 MT in 2016

(seafood.vasep.com.vn) In 2016, total fishery production in Ho Chi Minh city (Vietnam) estimated at 57,412.7 MT, up 3.3% over the previous year. Of that, aquaculture output amounted to 37,485 MT, up 10.6% (shrimp volume accounted for 37.3%, up 8.8%; the output of other seafood items took up 47.4%, up 35.6%); capture output hit at 19,927.8 MT, down 8.1% year on year.

In Can Gio district, as of 4th Dec 2016, there were 543 farming households of black tiger shrimp with 147 million seeds covering the area of ​​2,335.8 hectares. Meanwhile, there were 2,890 farming households of whiteleg shrimp with 1,190.8 million seeds covering the area of ​​2,899.3 hectares.
