Imported clam price into Japan at nearly US$5 per kg

(vasep.com.vn) According to Vietnam Customs statistics, through 15 May 2015, clam exports of Vietnam to Japan gained US$3.3 million, up 11.1% compared to same period in 2014. Japan is the second largest consumer market of Vietnam clam after EU.

The average price of preserved/prepared clam imported by Japan in the period was at the range of US$3.6 to US$4.8 per kg.

In the first 4 months of 2015, Japan imported preserved/prepared clam products from 10 countries, in which China is the leading supplier. Vietnam is the fifth largest clam exporter to Japan.

Frozen clam (HS 030 779) by Japan in the first 4 months of the year reached US$ 10.35 million. Japan imported frozen clam from 7 countries including Canada with the highest import value of US$ 5.67 million. In the period, Vietnam exported 5.03 tones of frozen clam to Japan worth US$11 thousand dollars.
