Soc Trang province: Seafood exports in 11 months reached over 920 million USD

(vasep.com.vn) Soc Trang province's agricultural sector continues to play an important role in economic growth, especially in aquaculture and fishing.

In 2021, the whole province of Soc Trang has an area of 76,530 ha of aquaculture of all kinds, with the province's total aquatic production estimated at 337,400 tons. In which, the output of aquaculture is 70,100 tons, aquaculture production is 267,300 tons. Especially, the area of brackish water shrimp farming in 2021 has reached 53,000 hectares.

In which, vannamei shrimp 40,000 ha (accounting for 75.5% of the farming area) and black tiger shrimp 13,000 ha (accounting for 75.5% of the farming area). The area of intensive and semi-intensive shrimp farming accounted for 93.7%. In addition, the demand for brackish water shrimp breeds that have been stocked is nearly 16,500 million seed (vannamei shrimp is estimated at over 14,320 million varieties).

In the first months of 2021, shrimp prices are always quite high compared to the same period last year. But from the beginning of July to the end of August 2021, when the Covid-19 epidemic was complicated, the shrimp price continuously decreased. From the beginning of September until now, the price of raw shrimp has started to increase again. By the end of November 2021, the province's seafood export turnover reached 927 million USD.

According to Vietnam Customs statistics, export turnover in the first two months of 2026 reached nearly USD 55 million, up 24% compared to the same period in 2025 and more than 2.2 times higher than in the same period of 2024. This indicates that crab exports are entering 2026 with stronger growth momentum, particularly in Asian markets.

The decision takes effect from the date of signing and replaces previous plans for the 2021–2030 period that had been issued prior to the administrative merger in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City.
